This presentation is part of "The Healing Woods," a yearlong series exploring our connection to the Adirondack wilderness.
Join us for a special presentation by Tom Bartiss, who will explore the complex relationship between humans and the Adirondack forest. The presentation will examine the region's history, human impacts, and how economic needs are balanced with environmental protection.
Tom Bartiss is a logger, educator, and caretaker. After getting his degree from Paul Smith's College, he left the area to log in Pennsylvania and Southern New England. However, the Adirondacks brought him back. Tom has taught for 15 years at Paul Smiths. With his students, he stresses the importance of minimizing the impact on the land
